Credit Cards with Travel Insurance in Singapore 2026

Complimentary travel insurance bundled with your credit card sounds free — but the small print matters. Almost every SG card insurance benefit requires you to pay the FULL trip (flights, accommodation, and ground transport) on the card. Coverage caps vary wildly: S$350k base on entry-tier KrisFlyer Credit, S$1M on PremierMiles / Plat Charge / KF Ascend. Conditions on baggage delay, missed connection, and pre-existing conditions are where claims succeed or fail.

Frequently asked

No — almost every SG card requires the full round-trip airfare PLUS at least one ground component (hotel, taxi to airport, public transport pass) to be charged on the same card to activate coverage. Pay flights elsewhere and you forfeit the entitlement, even if the card otherwise covers your trip.

The headline figure is the personal-accident sub-limit — typically the maximum payout for accidental death or total disability. Real-world claims (baggage delay, medical evacuation, trip cancellation) have separate, much lower per-claim caps. The S$1M figure is meaningful for the rare catastrophic event; for day-to-day travel hiccups, read the per-sublimit schedule in the policy underwriter T&Cs.

For short regional trips (≤7 days, low medical risk destination), often yes. For long-haul or high-risk activities (skiing, scuba, motorbike), buy standalone travel insurance — card-bundled policies typically exclude motor-sports, professional sports, and pre-existing conditions, and have lower medical caps (often ≤ S$200k) than the headline number suggests.

On most SG cards (HSBC TravelOne, UOB Visa Sig, Citi PremierMiles), coverage auto-activates when the qualifying spend posts. Some — like UOB Visa Sig's S$500k personal accident — require advance fare charge AND an activation step in the bank app. Check your bank's travel-insurance T&Cs the FIRST time you use the benefit; subsequent trips inherit the same activation.
